Register for Upcoming Webinar on Refugee Resettlement
Hi everyone,
Today, there are over 21 million refugees in the world, a number unprecedented since WWII. This means that one in 113 persons globally is a refugee, an immigrant, or an asylee.
We invite you to please save the date and plan to have representatives from your faith community join a webinar which will be co-hosted by the Interfaith Immigration Coalition and Refugees Welcome team (the Disciples of Christ and the United Church of Christ are members of both). In this webinar, you will have opportunity to learn how you can help ensure U.S. communities have the resources needed NOW to help refugees integrate and thrive.
What: Responding to Refugee Crisis & Funding Shortfall in U.S. Resettlement
When: Tuesday, November 15 at 4pm ET

Right now, we are facing the largest displacement crisis in recorded history. To respond with leadership as faith communities, it is critical that our communities throughout the United States respond with compassion, hospitality, and welcome. Congress needs to hear that our communities around the country stand ready to welcome refugees who are looking for the chance to find safety and rebuild their lives.
*As Congress must pass a spending package by December 9, now is the time for interfaith partners to speak up to ensure any spending measure robustly funds programs to welcome and integrate refugees.
*As 110,000 refugees are arriving into the U.S. within this fiscal year (which covers Oct. 2016-Sept. 2017), we need to engage our congregations now more than ever as Welcoming Teams with resettling families!
Please join us on Tuesday, November 15th at 4pm ET to learn how you can help. All faith communities are needed to act together in the midst of this critical moment for refugee resettlement and funding.
Please share this invitation across your networks and encourage them to take action! Feel free to email Sharon Stanley-Rea, Disciples Refugee & Immigration Ministries Director, at sstanley@dhm.disciples.org or Mary Schaller Blaufuss, Team Leader for UCC Global Sharing of Resources at blaufusm@ucc.org with any questions.
