The Rev. Otis Moss III, pastor of Trinity UCC in Chicago, is the special guest on “Preachers on Preaching,” a new weekly podcast sponsored by The Christian Century magazine.
Hosted by the Rev. Matt Fitzgerald, senior pastor of St. Pauls UCC in Chicago, this week’s podcast touches on Moss’ experience preaching with his father, the Rev. Otis Moss II, what it was like to follow the Rev. Jeremiah Wright into Trinity’s pulpit (he got death threats), the unique way the African-American church reveals God, and the changing way the church talks about mental health.
In one section, Fitzgerald and Moss discuss the American press’ reaction to the shootings in Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C. “What a young man [Dylann Roof] tried to start as a race war became a war on racism,” Moss reflects during the program.
