‘Fill the Jar’ podcast examines what we can do to stay hopeful; interview with UCC Washington, D.C. office director

When the Rev. Seth Wispelwey began his podcast “Fill the Jar” last year, he said he wanted to show people that they were not alone.

The minister for Economic Justice with the United Church of Christ, said of the podcast, “It’s not an information dump of inside language of economics, but something I hope will give people nourishment and sustenance in their day-to-day lives.”

Rev. Seth Wispelwey hosts ‘Fill the Jar’ on Spotify.

In his latest episode, found on the UCC Channel on Spotify, Wispelwey interviewed the Rev. Michael Neuroth, Director of the UCC’s Office of Public Policy and Advocacy. Located on Capitol Hill, the office is in the thick of things in the nation’s capitol. Just last week, Neuroth and others rallied on Lafayette Square speaking out on the Executive Order suspending refugee resettlement.

Rev. Mike Neuroth speaks at a rally on Lafayette Square last week, along with other interfaith partners.

“It’s not just to lift the work of the United Church of Christ,” said Neuroth in the podcast. “But to bring with us the voice of ecumenical and interfaith partners, so that we reflect the broader moral voice here in the United States on these issues. We are always working with others like the National Council of Churches, the Presbyterians, Methodists, Jewish community, and Muslim community.” He shared that there is “hope in doing this together, building a more united front.”
