Your generosity uplifts us: Request for Annual Fund donations

The church is called to be the church, and the mission of the United Church of Christ stays consistent and meaningful “in season and out of season,” said Kent Siladi, interim director of UCC Philanthropy, as he shared a new video highlighting the profound work that the United Church of Christ Annual Fund has made possible this year.

“The truth is, without your support — whether it’s from individuals, Conferences, or our other partners — we wouldn’t be able to do all the amazing ministries that take place in the National Setting,” he said in the video.

Watch the video where Rev. Kent Siladi invites support for the UCC Annual Fund that enables the important work of the UCC National Setting.

Siladi said he thinks about the the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s quote as particularly relevant for the current moment: “The church must be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool. If the church does not recapture its prophetic zeal, it will become an irrelevant social club without moral or spiritual authority.”

Committed to the necessary work toward creating a just world for all, the UCC wouldn’t be able to do all the amazing things that take place in the National Setting without your generosity, Siladi said.

From the Our Faith Our Vote initiative from the UCC Office of Public Policy in Washington, D.C., to hurricane relief efforts across the United States organized by the Love of Neighbor team, the church relies on support to speak boldly and respond to great need. Donations also make possible the work of the Racial Justice and Environmental Justice teams, as well as the Daily Devotional and Worship Ways resources found online.

General Minister and President, the Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson, has recently concluded her first year as GMP and has spent the year traveling and casting her vision for the UCC as a “big tent” church that welcomes everyone as we work toward a “just world for all.”

“So, here’s my invitation to you: Join me in supporting the 2024 Annual Fund,” said Siladi. “Together, we’re making a real difference — and it’s all thanks to you! May God’s abundant blessings be with you as you prayerfully consider your gift.”

All are invited to support the UCC Annual Fund here.
