Living Psalm 16

Living Psalms Book
Psalms in the form of words and art, reborn in the specific contexts of our world, privileging the voices of historically marginalized communities and those acting in solidarity with them.
Save me God.
Shield me God.
You are my refuge;
my last remaining shred of hope for this horror of a world.
There is no Good but from you.
The faithful, like me—we who hold this hope?
They give me delight, too.
But those who name other Gods
(money.power.extraction.avoidance.SIN)….
Their seductive offerings of complacency disgust me.
I’m with you, Holy one.
I’m with your people.
The least, the lost, the most and multiply oppressed.
For as they rise, so do I.
As they fall, #metoo.
I am grateful for the way you hold me to this lot,
The pathways you’ve set before me, of life and death.
My soul rejoices knowing that I have done what I can do,
And I will not give up in this collective liberation.
Even when I see the pit of despair, you are with me.
Grounding me, reminding me,
holding me in the context of this age
…and all that have come before.
I believe we will win, God.
You, me, and all of us.
I believe we will help bring about the world You imagine.
Here. On Earth.
eventually.
