Gracious God –

In these days that seem filled with statistics, predictions & updates on this pandemic and its impact on our world, we pray for those who are overwhelmed with suffering or numbed by the pain.

As a social justice church, our hearts ache for those most impacted like our first responders, marginalized communities, and those in fragile health. Send us your healing Spirit, O God, especially to fall on healthcare providers, service workers, those without access to healthcare, and all people who are vulnerable to illness or oppressed by the systems of evil and death.

Give us hope in your provision of daily bread, that we might live with open hands and open hearts. Help us to trust that we will have what we need—from food to paper goods to protective gear, we put our hope in your loving and creative hands.

In your compassionate heart, gather up the stories we tell, the grief that we share, and the signs of life and recovery that we can see.

We stand now between Easter and Pentecost. So we have witnessed the mystery and the power of your love, and our hearts are stirred by the blessing of your Holy Spirit. Send your Spirit upon the church and the world, O God, to hasten our collective action despite our differences. Unite us in a shared calling to love our neighbors as ourselves.

For your goodness is healing to us and your faithfulness will see us through. With trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
