Upcoming ‘Love of Children’ webinar focuses on Gen Z and Alpha generations
The landscape of children’s and youth ministry has been quickly changing over the last decade and these changes were accelerated with the pandemic and other social justice issues.
As a result, many are wondering how to effectively provide services to and ministry with young people.
A new webinar sponsored by the United Church of Christ Nurture the Soul series provides an opportunity to learn more about today’s youth culture, supporting them in their faith formation, as well as offering practical skills to equip our leaders to walk alongside of them.
Episode 1 kicks off on Thursday, May 30 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern and is titled, “Thick Trust, Taking Young People’s Longings & Belonging Seriously.” It takes a look at the inner and outer lives of Gen Z and Alpha generations, noting they are complex and layered. The way young people form bonds and make meaning is changing as the world grows more complicated daily. This webinar will provide practical ways to build “trust capital” with young people and have brave conversations.
‘Children’s ministry is for everyone’
The Rev. Trayce Potter, minister for children and youth engagement at the UCC, said, “With the success of the Rethinking Children’s & Youth Ministry Summit, hosted by Convergence, it feels timely to offer a Nurture the Soul series that is specifically focused on our young people. Children’s ministry is for everyone, because there are children everywhere.”
Potter continued, “So, whether a congregation has 50 children in service or none but there’s a school down the street, this webinar series is for them. We need to reframe our understanding of what it means to be a child and how we show up for them in meaningful ways.”
You can register here. A recording of this webinar will be available on the UCC’s Youtube Channel: https://bit.ly/3T74dBX.
