‘Not your typical webinar’: Womxn 2 Womxn series aims to foster community
As the church works towards gathering this summer at General Synod 35 in Kansas City, Missouri, a special webinar series seeks to bring women from across the denomination together in an intimate workshop and community space.
“It’s not going to be your typical webinar. It’s going to be a live space where we’re all in the space together to have conversations, ask questions, and be in a shared community with one another,” said Rachael Ward, the Minister for Gender and Sexuality Justice at the National Ministries.
The Into the Deep: Womxn 2 Womxn series aims to be an intentional space to embrace the wide spectrum of womanhood that exists throughout the denomination, Ward says. The series will span the course of the next three months (April 8, May 13, and June 10), and will feature guest speakers and presenters speaking about their shared experiences, as well as offering resources that attendees can use. The series will culminate at General Synod in July, where an in-person networking event is being planned to continue fostering community.
“This is a moment where we’re being reminded that we need each other,” Ward said. “Our denomination is 53% women, so the need for this is that we want to be able to create ways of connectivity.”
UCC News had the opportunity to speak with Ward more about the series, and the hopes and desired outcomes for this sacred space. You can watch the entire conversation below. You can also register for the webinar series here.
