Interactive Just Act calendar comes together across UCC ministries, inspired by 3 Great Loves

A simple act of kindness can brighten one’s day, make a difference in someone’s life, and even change the world. Combine that thought with the mission of the United Church of Christ to create a just world for all through its current one-church mission initiative, 3 Great Loves, you get ‘JustAct.’

JustAct is the 3 Great Loves Daily Action Calendar created by the UCC National Setting, outlining 365 ways God’s love inspires acts of love towards neighbors, children and creation. And, JustAct is a perpetual calendar, so users can pick one up and get started at any point in the year and continue using it year after year.

The calendar is a creative collaboration of several ministries at the National Setting with content suggested by members of five different teams —The Rev. Mary Schaller Blaufuss, Team Leader, Humanitarian & Development Ministries; the Rev. Velda Love, Minister for Racial Justice; the Rev. Brooks Berndt, Minister for Environmental Justice; the Rev. Susan Blain, Minister for Faith Formation: Curator for Worship and Liturgical Arts; and the Rev. Elizabeth Dilley, Minister for Ministerial Support and Accountability.

Each day outlines an action with a bible/gospel verse or inspirational quote that serves as the foundation. 365 daily actions that live out God’s love and promote a just world.

“We believe that every day presents opportunity to take an action for creating a more just and loving world,” said Cynthia Bailie, Director of OPTIC, the department that produced the Just Act calendar. “No action is too small or insignificant.”

It’s hoped the calendar will also inspire sharing of stories across the wider church through the 3 Great Loves website. JustAct connects congregations or individuals to where their stories can be shared online and through social media.

“We have never connected our website to a UCCR product like this before,” said Marie Tyson, Director of Sales and Distribution for United Church of Christ Resources (UCCR). “I am very excited about the interaction with all who purchase and choose to participate.”
