Emotional and Spiritual Care Team applications are now being accepted

In the aftermath of a disaster, rebuilding is more than just that of brick and mortar. It involves the rebuilding of spirits and souls.

Within the United Church of Christ that work is carried out by the Emotional and Spiritual Care Team, a program of Global H.O.P.E.’s Disaster Ministries that focuses on providing support to spiritual caregivers serving at the local church, association, and conference levels, as they provide pastoral care to their impacted communities. And now that network of volunteers who work alongside the UCC’s Conference Disaster and Response Coordinators, is widening its reach.

The Emotional and Spiritual Care is now accepting applications.  

Katie Howe, Minister for Disaster Response and Recovery, invites trained pastoral care providers, parish nurses, counselors, chaplains, clergy, and others “feeling the call to disaster emotional and spiritual care” to apply for the volunteer position.

Applications, reviewed on a rolling basis, will be accepted until Oct. 16.
