Exciting “Over the Edge” event coming this Saturday, August 22
Three courageous participants from the United Church of Christ will rappel 255-feet from the roof of the AECOM building where the National Ministries offices are based–all part of an exciting fundraiser for Adoption Network Cleveland (ANC) this Saturday, August 22. “Over the Edge” is sponsored by the UCC to support Adoption Network’s work in the Northeast Ohio community which includes services for adoptive, foster and kinship families, adult adoptees and birth parents, and those who have made DNA discoveries about their family.

Chief of Staff Rev. Joshua Baird, the Rev. Rachel Hackenberg, publisher of the Pilgrim Press, as well as Global Ministries program assistant Eric Lautzenhiser will rappel to the ground with the careful guidance of trained experts, along with more than 50 other fundraisers who committed to make the leap. They will have a fabulous view of Lake Erie and the Cleveland skyline as friends, families and onlookers cheer them on.
The News Digest team will live stream portions of the event on the United Church of Christ Facebook page starting that morning between 9 and 10 a.m. There will be interviews with those involved, as well as rooftop views from the Aecom building, and a chance to catch the UCC participants in action.
Those living in the Cleveland area are welcome to come cheer on all rappelers at 1300 E. 9th Street. The event will be held rain or shine, as long as lightning and high winds are not present.

For those who would like to support ANC but can’t come out on Saturday, there is a fundraiser being held this evening, Tuesday, August 18 between 4 and 6 p.m. at Southern Tier Brewing on Prospect Avenue in Cleveland.
ANC founder and executive director Betsie Norris is thankful for those who have committed to join in. “Every descent helps lift up a child or person in need as we raise funds for Adoption Network Cleveland’s programs and services in our community. We are grateful to partner with the United Church of Christ as a sponsor of this event.”
