Living Psalm 112:1-9 – Epiphany 5A

Living Psalms Book
Psalms in the form of words and art, reborn in the specific contexts of our world, privileging the voices of historically marginalized communities and those acting in solidarity with them.
Psalm 112:1-9 (10)
Who fears you, LORD?
Who brings a reverence for you
and for your will and love and grace
to how they speak and pray and act?
Is it the wealthy and the mighty of the land?
Do they display the righteousness
that lasts forever? Do they show your light?
Does mercy flow from mansions tall?
I wish I saw it so. How do you see it, LORD?
The righteous may not feel the fear,
but threats and violence are laid at them,
by those who withhold justice from the poor.
I ask you, Holy One, to steady my faint heart,
to live with courage in the midst of trial,
to give of time and treasure as your righteous do:
and see evil’s desires come to naught.
