Trust Your Gut Revelation
If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. – Galatians 5:25 (NRSV)
Did you know there’s spiritual wisdom in the adage, “Trust your gut?” It turns out that our bodies have a brilliant neurological response system to tell us when something’s not right.
“The idea makes me sick to my stomach” or “Something about it doesn’t feel right” is actually your very wise body saying: Wait a minute. Take a second look. Please. Not yet.
Scientists call our guts our “second brain.” It’s a deeper knowing that, through the marvel of creation, helps God to guide our intuition. Apparently, the average person’s gut has about 100 million neurons! More than the spine.
Gut matters.
Your intuition brilliantly melds your brain, gut, awareness, learnings, memories, and feelings to communicate something crucial. That’s what the scientists say. I add: our connection to God is part of that process, as well. Every moment of our lives, God’s trying to tell us something.
Fine-tuning our mastery of the intuitive process in connection to the humility of listening is how we decide faithfully and wisely.
What does your gut say?
Prayer
May my discernment draw on the wisdom you have woven into my body, my being, O God. And may I always make you a conscious part of my processing. Amen.
