Making covenantal living sexy — again? Central Atlantic exec unpacks the power of relational ministry on GS LIVE
GS LIVE welcomed the Rev. Craig Peterson, Central Atlantic Conference’s associate conference minister for congregational development, to its studio in the Kansas City convention center on July 12. The executive, who is passionate about the topic of living out the covenant, shared how this biblical call to show up for God and one another — a theological tenet that is at the heart of the United Church of Christ — is really the way forward in a divided world.
Recognizing how the word “covenant” might be stale or viewed as too churchy, Peterson reminded viewers that covenantal living simply means being relational. He often uses the word “relationship” in place of “covenant.”
Peterson then shared with GS LIVE co-hosts, Charles Jefferson, UCC news director, and Donna Frischknecht Jackson, UCC communications specialist, how relationships cannot exist without sharing one another’s stories.
“Covenant calls us to honor and respect differences. It helps us to replace condemnation with curiosity,” said Peterson on GS LIVE.
