UCC officers remember ‘global champion of justice’ Desmond Tutu
“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.” Desmond Tutu
The national setting of the United Church of Christ acknowledges the death of Nobel Peace Prize winner and Elder Statesman of the Church, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, this morning. Archbishop Tutu is an anti-apartheid leader in his beloved South Africa and a global champion of justice. His unrelenting call to care for all who are downtrodden is an example of embodied discipleship. May his family and all who love him be comforted during this time and may we who remain embody discipleship in ways that continue to advance the call to justice and love.
Faithfully, the Officers of the United Church of Christ
