UCC Disaster Ministries releases another $55,000 for East Africa Famine response
UCC Disaster Ministries has just ordered another $55,000 be sent for famine and drought response in East Africa – one of the biggest humanitarian emergencies since World War II.
This includes funding for ecumenical work in South Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya and augments the $85,000 sent earlier for food, nutritional supplements, water and medical care in the four countries.
The $140,000 total funding so far for this emergency is thanks to generous support to One Great Hour of Sharing, the recent special fundraiser for East Africa Famine response, and designated and undesignated contributions to the UCC’s International Emergency Relief Fund.
Support provided to ACT Alliance means food, nutrition supplements, safe water, sanitation, fast-maturing seeds, farming tools, and support to keep pupils and teachers in school. Through IMA World Health, UCC Disaster Ministries deploys mobile clinics, therapeutic feeding and medicines, and supports partners like Sudan Medical Care.
