United Church of Christ's General Synod 2013 overwhelmingly passed several of the first resolutions that came to the floor. Moving forward, UCC settings will broaden an ecumenical relationship with the United Church of Canada, extend an extravagant welcome to all war veterans and their families, and further a dialogue to examine redrawing UCC conference boundaries.

More than 200 of the Youth @ General Synod were able to meet with author Lillian Daniel on Sunday June 30, posing what she called "some of the best questions I've ever been asked.” A pastor, author and writer in the United Church of Christ’s StillSpeaking Writers’ Group, Daniel's recent book, "When 'Spiritual But Not Religious' is Not Enough," was selected for the "Youth Read" program at General Synod 2013.
United Church of Christ marches for comprehensive immigration reform July 1, 2013
In a visible witness for compassionate comprehensive immigration reform, advocates from the United Church of Christ took to the streets of Long Beach, Calif., on Monday as the General Synod voted to adopt a resolution supporting immigration reform and the protection of the human rights of immigrants.

The revised resolution,"Resisting Actions Seeking to Undermine the Status of Women in Society, summons the different settings of the Church to bear witness to their conviction of all people's equal standing before God, and to actively challenge theologies and public policy that would undermine it.

Dozens of General Synod delegates ventured out into the California sunshine Saturday afternoon to serve the Long Beach area. Volunteers traveled in groups to two retirement communities, a village for homeless veterans, a faith-based food and clothing distribution center, and picked up trash on a local beach.
