The United Church of Christ is appealing to members and friends for support of the Haiti Earthquake emergency appeal to provide for immediate relief and long-term recovery and rebuilding.

After one month in Haiti, United Church of Christ donations reach 150,000+ people.
Since the earthquake hit parts of Haiti January 12, the UCC supported ACT Alliance has assisted more than 150,000 people. The majority of people are assisted with ongoing support such as water, sanitation, shelter or regular food supplies/meals. Others have received relief items such as cash, family kits or hygiene sets. Others have benefited from medical assistance and supplies to health clinics. Read the full update.
1. Pray for the people of Haiti their leaders and emergency and humanitarian aid workers.
2. Please help the people of Haiti by sending gifts payable to your congregation marked for "OGHS – Haiti Earthquake Relief" with the request they be sent through your Conference office on to Wider Church Ministries.

3. Hygiene and Baby Kits are urgently needed for survivors in Haiti. This is one very concrete and "hands-on" thing that church groups can do. Church World Service has issued an urgent call for Gifts of the Heart Kits.

As of 2/11/10, medevac cases from Haiti are arriving or slated to arrive in the following metropolitan areas: Miami, Tampa, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Newark, New York City and Boston. Volunteers are needed to assist medevac patients. Volunteer Opportunities in the U.S. for Haiti.
The Haiti Assistance Income Tax Relief Act allows U.S. taxpayers making contributions for the relief of Haitian earthquake victims to choose to deduct contributions from either 2009 or 2010 federal taxes. Read More IRS Tax Info.
