Year End

Dear Beloved Community:

Querida comunidad amada: This year has been a busy one for us at Proyecto Encuentros de Gracia y Bienvenida (which we translate as Project Encounters and Engagements of Grace and Welcome). We have been working on creating a movement within our denomination and in ever expanding concentric circles throughout the wider community.

This has been our first year attempting to build a web community, we are small, but trust that with God’s guidance we will continue to grow!

I have been able to meet some of you as I have travelled spreading a message of Radical Welcome to all God’s people in all of our beautiful, intersecting realities! I have been playing games with you, like Identity Bowling and Relationship Jenga as ways to open our conversations. I want to thank you for attending our workshops and being present with me at many table discussions.

Now, here is my big ask: please log onto our website and read through our blog. Reflections and prayers are available in English and Spanish, we are hopeful that in the coming year we will be adding additional writers to our blog (please feel free to call/email suggestions: Ahora, aquí está mi pregunta grande: por favor ingrese a nuestro sitio web y lea nuestro blog. Just before going to the polls on Election Day we shared a reflection offering and it spoke to the many ways that we are present to each other as a community; we are reminded that regardless of whose candidate won or loss, “we have an opportunity to begin the healing of a broken and wounded country” trusting and believing that God is with us in the midst of this life.

I ask that you please continue to pray for our ministry work. So often when we speak about Latinx-LGBTQ+ we are speaking of a people who are marginalized, even in the midst of their Christianity. It is our intention to build authentic relationships within all aspects of community: helping Latinx churches work through the Open and Affirming process and helping non-Latinx churches widen their doors to those whose Racial/Ethnic Cultures may be different than their own. Knowing that in Christ Jesus, “there are neither Jews nor Greeks, slaves nor free people, males nor females and we… are all the same,” even in the midst of our differences (Gal 3:28-29a GW)!

If you are in need of prayer, know that you can count on us. If you are in need of a resource, know that you can depend on us. We are a bilingual (Spanish-English), multi-cultural, diverse expressions of gender identity and sexual orientation leadership team that is loudly saying, presente. Aqui estamos para servirles – we are here to serve. Aqui estamos para servirles – we are here to serve.

Blessings,
