The Elder is my Protector
I lack for nothing
They provide me a resting place in meadows
We walk together beside gentle waters
They uplift my Spirit
Their teaching shows me a good path to follow in their example
Even when I move through the shadow lands of nothingness
I have no fright as you are by my side, our moccasins go step by step in unison
Your bow and arrows provide safety and contentedness.
You set a feast in front of me with my foes watching
You bless my head with maple sap and my birch bark bowl overflows
Without a doubt integrity and graciousness will accompany me
Until I join the ancestors in the dance of the aurora borealis
And I will reside with Creator in our longhouse
for time everlasting.
