Almighty God, in whom we live and move and have our being, we are afraid.
Our nation is torn.
We are all endangered by the great fissures that tear our nation asunder.
Shelter us with your mighty wings. Shield us from violence and hatred.
Grant us the courage to reach out to our neighbors.
Let us hear one another not just with our ears, but with our hearts.
Still our fears and anger toward one another so that we may weave our nation together anew, guided by your love.
God, in your tender mercy, hear our prayer.
-Rev. Dr. Cathryn Turrentine, Center Harbor Congregational Church, NH
