Serena Ruiz (Class of 2028, At Large) is a member of the Covina Community Church congregation in Covina, California. She is serving her second term as the Church Council Secretary and often steps in where needed during services. Serena has served as liturgist, deacon, and tech deacon during Sunday services, depending on where she is needed.
When invited, Serena also spends time working with Rev. Nora Jacob as a volunteer for restoration and rehabilitation within the California Institution for Men, a state prison in Chino, California. She works with Rev. Jacob to connect the queer community inside the prison with the queer community outside the prison.
Serena has also had the opportunity to work with Chalice Press of the Disciples of Christ. She has worked as a copyeditor for their Inside Out camp curriculum, which is a multi-denominational curriculum based on bringing God’s love to multiple levels of youth.
Serena is always willing to step in and help where necessary.
