‘A Time of Expectation and Anticipation’: UCC GMP shares Advent greetings
As we enter the 2025 Advent season, United Church of Christ General Minister and President/CEO the Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson shares a message centering on the peace of God and being surrounded by the love of community in her annual Advent video.
“Advent is a time of expectation and anticipation, a special time of reflection and observance in the life of the church,” Thompson said.
This year, as the world faces many challenges, Thompson reflected on the story of the coming of the baby in the manger, and how it correlates to the stories of migration in the present day. Thompson says that as the Church and God’s people await the coming of the baby and Christmas, her prayer is that Advent will be a source of hope.
“[I hope this will be] a time when you will be surrounded by the peace of the Divine, as you extend the love of God with deep joy,” Thompson said.
