‘A Season for Spiritual Preparation’: Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson offers Ash Wednesday reflections
The Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson, United Church of Christ General Minister and President/CEO, issued a special Ash Wednesday video message in which she invites the church to connect to spiritual practices that connect with the soul this season.
“This is a season for spiritual preparation, a period of being intentional in our spiritual practices,” Thompson said, referring to practices such as fasting, Bible study, and other things that nurture and ground one in the Spirit.
Thompson added that the change required in our communities and the world require a commitment to spiritual care, formation, and transformation.
A Special Prayer
God, move in us, heal us, transform us. In these 40 days, in this season, God, call us back to you. Help us to find you and to find the joy of being connected with you. Thank you for this time that lies ahead. Heal us, we pray. Amen.
