Transfiguration A – February 15

February 15, 2026
Transfiguration Sunday | Year A
Exodus 24:12-18 | “Wait”
Call to Worship
One: Come to me and wait. I will give you instructions and commandments in written form.
Many: We come to you and we wait, to see and hear what you will say.
One: In days past, I wrote on stone tablets, but now I write my words upon you heart that you may teach them.
Many: We offer our hearts to receive your words and what we learn, we’ll teach others.
One: Heaven is open above you and the kin-dom is within you.
All: Wherever we go, the kin-dom comes.
Invocation
God who invited Moses to come up the mountain to receive from you, we invite you to come among us and receive from us. May we become more whole as we wait in confident expectation of the deepening of the love that is shared between us. Amen.
Prayer for Transformation and New Life
Waiting is not always easy for us, especially while living in a realm where instant gratification is perceived as proof of being blessed. You wait for us and on us often. Help us to remember that we are to be of good courage as we wait on you and for you.
Words of Grace
Moses went up the mountain and waited forty days and forty nights while The Holy One gave him the words that bring his people life. Let us give thanks that God waits with us no matter how long and transforms us in the waiting.
Invitation to Generosity
This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. The space and time where we get to give back to the Holy one out of that which the Holy One has given to us. The wait is over, now let us offer our time, talent, and treasure with joy! Amen.
Prayer of Thanksgiving and Dedication
Patient One, receive these gifts that we could hardly wait to give you. May they be used to meet the needs of those who have been waiting for relief.
Benediction
Ancient of Days, as exit this holy pause, remind us of your words that are written on our hearts and that you placed them there for us to be able to share them with others. May we be as patient about their reception of these words as you have been and are with us. Amen.
Wait: Service Prayers for the sixth Sunday after Epiphany was written by Rev. Teña T. Nock, who serves as The Associate Pastor of Digital Ministry, First United Church of Tampa, United Church of Christ. Mystic in the making.
