Make kindness a habit: UCC editorial in partnership with Kindland runs in national media outlet

The United Church of Christ and Kindland continue to partner to spread the seeds of kindness. The Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson, UCC General Minister and President/CEO and Stuart Muszynski, President and CEO of Values-in-Action/Kindland penned an opinion piece that ran in the Akron Beacon Journal on January 21, 2026. It was picked up online by MSN.com.

Noting that the sense of joy “radiates more strongly during the holidays,” they posed the question, “What if we could cultivate this feeling all year round?” The op-ed piece shared, “Studies have shown that acts of kindness can increase happiness, reduce anxiety and even improve physical health,” and can lead to a “helper’s high.”

Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson co-authored an opinion piece on spreading kindness all year long.
