Living Psalm 122 – Advent 1A

Living Psalms Book
Psalms in the form of words and art, reborn in the specific contexts of our world, privileging the voices of historically marginalized communities and those acting in solidarity with them.

When they said to me:
let us go to the Lake
Where our faith was formed
I was elated. Happy. Nostalgic for care.
The way I got to know you, God, was built in a program
That doesn’t fit the way the people need You now.
I got all the basics, there.
Yet: I am still part of a community of faith.
Still part of that city, still part of the family.
And so I give thanks.
And I pray for the peace of the place, all the places:
Where caretaking was stewarded through people long before mine,
I pray for the peace of Knowing your Call,
And Knowing You.
Beyond the program.
Beyond the place.
Beyond the service.
A relationship with You, first, Holy God.
I pray for the Call to Our Faith…
and the actions that Faith Proscribes…
For the sake of the coming of the kindom of God
On earth, as in Heaven…
I seek your Good.
