Building congregational community safety webinar series launches in August
How can congregations build an ecology of community safety that is rooted in care, investing in each other, believing in each other, and trusting each other and the rhythms and cycles around/within us? What community safety practices can be engaged in now that also help build the world congregations long for?
These questions and more will be explored in an upcoming four-part webinar series called Building Congregational Community Safety. This series launches on Aug. 19, and will continue Sept. 9, 23, and 30 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
Understanding the roles we play
The Rev. ellie hutchison, Minister for Congregational and Community Engagement, said she is looking forward to continuing her own learning in this series. “As I continue to walk alongside people of varying expressions of faith and differing theologies, I’ve discovered that need for us to better understand the many roles we all play in the movement towards justice and a world that G-d imagines for all of us. This training series will focus on multitudes of ways that we not only continue to care for each other, but care for ourselves and in a way that centers love and not harmful practices.”
Experienced trainers will expand on “Ecology of Community Safety” guide to offer practical skills, psycho-social care practices, planning tools, and analysis of current conditions, all towards practicing new ways of creating safety within congregational contexts. Participants are encouraged to learn more about the Liberating Lineages Collective as well.
