As you are aware, Holy One, we do not hear their cries.
“Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in your sight.” Yet we don’t see their humanity and, until we do, we will be a racist people. Until we love like Jesus, nothing will change.
We need to hear the cries without using privilege to turn away. We haven’t heard, apologized, or changed.
Help us, Holy One, to hear, then act. May we have the courage to speak when we see wrong. May we have the gumption to do better.
Forgive us for our thoughts and prayers. Compel us to be love in all we do. Help us Holy One, for we cannot do it on our own.
