Earth Day Movie Screenings

Movie screenings can be a great way to raise awareness and energy around environmental issues. There are plenty of resources and tips to be found for churches that want to screen or watch a movie to celebrate Earth Day:

● As part of their Climate Change Sabbath Toolkit, the Nebraska UCC Conference Board created a list of documentaries related to climate change.

● Interfaith Power & Light has a congregational kit for screening the acclaimed film “Kiss the Ground.”

● The Rev. Jeff Spencer writes about the practical lessons his church has learned in co-hosting a popular documentary movie night for a number of years.

● The UCC has recently released on YouTube a documentary it created in 1992 about one of the most significant events in the history of the environmental justice movement: the First National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit. One can learn more about this historic summit online, while also learning how screening the film can be connected to advocacy for the Environmental Justice for All Act introduced into Congress.
