About Page (Sobre Nosotros)

Proyecto: Encuentros de Gracia y Bienvenida seeks to advance the UCC’s Open and Affirming values of grace and welcome within and among UCC Congregations including those that are Spanish speaking and Latin@ communities throughout the country.  Because, no matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, YOU’RE WELCOME HERE!

By sharing Encuentros (encounters, engagements, findings, discoveries, and meetings of the mind) that engage the Latin@ community, disseminate LGBTQ bilingual resources, and implement best practices and programs, Proyecto will seek to create greater entry to the Open and Affirming movement and direct access to the theological, spiritual, and communal sources of inclusion and justice.

Through the creative collaboration of Spanish speaking leaders and writers, Proyecto aims to identify, assess, adapt, and develop Spanish language resources for use with UCC Spanish speaking churches, members, and other settings.  Proyecto also seeks to engage with non Spanish language congregations that are engaged with Spanish speaking populations.

The goals of Proyecto include the 1) Strengthening of relationships and partnerships with organizations and movements mobilizing the LGBTQ values of inclusion, welcome, and justice in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity in the Latin@ community; 2) Identify and assess needs and gaps that limit a comprehensive promotion of the biblical and theological proclamation of grace and welcome for all LGBTQ Latin@ brothers and sisters; 3) Creation and development of indigenous Spanish language resources that represent the voices of Latin@ LGBTQ community and its allies; 4) Collaboration with the UCC Coalition for LGBTQ concerns, UCC Seminaries, and other settings to achieve a unified and expansive witness of welcome.

Proyecto: Encuentros de Gracia y Bienvenida flows out of the UCC’s core values of Continuing Testament, Extravagant Welcome, and Changing Lives.
