From January 1 through April 30, 2020, all United Church of Christ congregations are invited to participate in a national study of religious life in America. It is the sixth such survey in the Faith Communities Today (FACT) series, begun in the year 2000, which provides religious leaders of all traditions critical planning information about the changing nature of congregational life and how to respond effectively. Information and findings from the FACT surveys are provided online freely at www.faithcommunitiestoday.org, and UCC results from the FACT 2015 Survey can be found on this page below.
This survey should be completed by your pastor, a staff member, or a well-informed lay leader. If any of the questions do not apply to your congregation, please feel free to skip them.
The survey is available online at https://www.ucc.org/fact_2020_ucc and requires your church’s official Church ID number which is also used to complete annual online Yearbook reporting (this number can be obtained from your Conference or Association and is also found in the UCC Yearbook and Directory or Access UCC. This survey is also available in Spanish online. Esta encuesta también está disponible en español en línea.
Responses about each individual congregation are completely confidential and will contribute to a better understanding of our local churches and how they do ministry. Please complete this survey by April 30, 2020. Aggregate results will be shared here online and on the Faith Communities Today website in coming months.
If you have questions regarding this survey, please email email@example.com.
Thank you for your willingness to be included in this important national study!

Recent United Church of Christ studies show ONA congregations – those that are publicly open and affirming to LGBTQ people – are attracting, on average, more new members and are less likely to close than the UCC average. "The results refute the 'urban legend' that UCC churches typically lose money and members when they vote to become ONA," said Andy Lang, executive director of the UCC Open and Affirming Coalition.Read more
What is MissionInsite?
MissionInsite is a demographic program that can help congregations and ministries know their neighborhood and mission field.
Why use MissionInsite?
MissionInsite is available through a license that the United Church of Christ national office has purchased. 23 of our 38 conferences have joined the national office using this program. If your conference is not already on-board, please call the CARD office for more information.
What can MissionInsite tell me or my congregation?
MissionInsite uses information from a variety of sources including the United States Census reports and data provided to them from Experian - the credit reporting agency. The United Church of Christ also provides them with data about our churches, conferences, and associations. Churches can upload their congregant information. This information is then utilized by the program to make available different "layers" or "theme maps" around a specific area that can be defined by the user.
For example, a Youth Director for All-Inclusive UCC is looking to recruit youth in the community to join the church youth program. By using MissionInsite, you would type in the address of your church and you'll have access to a map providing community demographics by age. Once you have identified the neighborhoods with youth, you might contact the school in that area and ask if you could advertise the youth program on the bulletin board. This is just one creative way to utilize MissionInsite.
