At a General Synod whose theme is Shine, the choir of Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago, helped shine a light on the needs of children during a sold out fundraiser.


With thirty workshops offered on Saturday afternoon, Synod attendees faced the daunting task of selecting from a wide range of options.


Participants in a national United Church of Christ meeting fanned out across Milwaukee on a sunny Saturday afternoon to give back to the city through service projects underscoring the denomination's "3 Great Loves." The projects addressed a wide range of concerns, from homelessness to the environment, from teens in crisis to digital access for low-income people.


Delegates of the UCC General Synod approve a resolution which calls upon the denomination to advocate for the immediate end of the government practice which separates immigrant minor children from their parents. 


Michael Desmond, author of the Pulitzer-Prize-winning book Evicted, painted a stark picture for General Synod delegates on Saturday, showing how lack of affordable housing is "one of the most morally urgent issues in America." And then he told them we could, as a country, fix the problem if we choose to.


Three artists are using painting, poetry and music to create theological reflections throughout the United Church of Christ's General Synod in Milwaukee June 21-25. The first took the stage Friday and filled an entire canvas by Saturday morning while observing the opening worship service and two business sessions. She saw themes of liberation and love.

The UCC ONA Coalition wrapped up a pre-Synod gathering with a Friday evening banquet at Milwaukee’s Wisconsin Center, pressing the theme of "Living Our Covenants: Into Life," noting that the work is far from done.


With elections set for Monday, June 24, the United Church of Christ’s General Synod heard Friday and Saturday from candidates for two important national offices: the Rev. Karen Georgia Thompson, a new nominee for Associate General Minister of Global Engagement, and the Rev. John Dorhauer, renominated for a second term as General Minister and President.
