In a time of gun violence, immigration conflicts, a growing wealth gap and seemingly endless racism and war, some United Church of Christ congregations are finding that being a Just Peace Church is a good way to get organized and do something.


People who use drugs may not come to mind immediately when United Church of Christ members think of values like Extravagant Welcome or Love of Neighbor. A growing community of UCC people is working to change that.


When a young man died of an opioid overdose this summer, the harm reduction movement in the United Church of Christ helped his parents cope with their unimaginable grief and share hope with their son's community.

A painter, a poet, and a musician. The third theological reflector of the UCC Milwaukee General Synod, Sandra Champion, creatively shared her perspective on the experience by composing two original musical compositions.


Twelve UCC members believe that changing the resolution process could make the General Synod more effective in its Christian witness. So they just proposed a resolution  with very specific instructions for creating an action team to work on that.


Privately run state and federal prisons should be abolished in the United States, the United Church of Christ’s General Synod said Tuesday.
