2024 at a Glance

At the UCC, we continue to reshape the narrative of a declining church. We remain a vibrant and diverse denomination dedicated to spiritual formation, leadership development and the decolonization of the church. We are a big tent church where all are welcome. Your support empowers our ministries to support our congregations, members, individuals, families and partners worldwide. Look at some of the ways you made an impact in 2024.


Our Grants

Our grants helped individuals and families in the U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Southern Asia, East Asia and the Pacific.

This graph shows that 59 grants were given for disaster relief, totaling $834,750; 24 grants were given for refugee support, totaling $227,880; and 13 grants were given for sustainable development, totaling $510, 505

Child and Elder Sponsorship

The Child and Elder sponsorship nurtured relationships with partner schools, institutions and sponsors and continued to develop engaging web pages to expand the program.

Highlights

National Ministries and Pension Boards

The National Ministries and Pension Boards partnered to create the FreeWill portal, which helps people create legally valid wills at no cost. Their goal is to make creating a legacy for loved ones and charitable causes easier and ensure congregations and church settings have crucial tools for promoting planned giving.

Ministerial Excellence, Support, and Authorization

MESA launched a digital Local Church Profile that enables search committees to create an accurate representation of their congregation.

Gender & Sexuality Justice Ministries

Gender & Sexuality Justice Ministries offered the Our Whole Lives program, a comprehensive lifespan sexuality education initiative that promotes whole health through advocacy.

Antoinette Brown Society

The Antoinette Brown Society hosted a UCC Clergywomen Leadership Event, with more than 70 attendees who explored how their talents could be shared collectively to upend racism and sexism so our communities might reflect God’s love and justice.

Racial Justice Ministries

Racial Justice Ministries resourced more than 5,000 individuals and congregations to build a more racially just world, empowered hundreds of people to further their racial justice journey, hosted timely and nourishing webinars and workshops covering national politics to Juneteenth, and fostered networks of movement-makers nationally and worldwide to support and grow our capacity to contend with racism.

Our Faith Our Vote Campaign

This campaign for voter engagement and strategies witnessed significant engagement, including 3,500 webinar views.

800 church leaders trained by the Church Building & Loan Fund, equipping them with visioning and strategic planning tools, and offered financial feasibility studies and capital campaign services.

UCC News Digest

The UCC News Digest, a weekly publication of news and commentary from throughout the UCC, delivered 51 editions to an average of 20,173 email addresses weekly with a 45% open rate, well above the 20-30% nonprofit industry average, showing our supporters are engaged in the work of our wider church.


Leadership

UCC National staff completed a Professional Development Training Series, increasing our capacity to provide excellent service to local churches, conferences and global partners.

135 Conference and national staff worshipped and explored how white Eurocentric bias has dominated
leadership formation and how the church might engage to unravel white supremacy systems.
