Things that Can’t Separate Us from the Love of God: Part Two

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39

Paul’s list of things that can’t separate us from the love of God in Christ is pretty exhaustive. Nothing in the present or the future. Nothing up or down. “Nothing else in all creation.” Bases covered.

So why am I still uncertain? Anxious? Afraid? I want the list to go on and on! I need more specifics.

So, here goes.

I am convincing myself that:
neither snoring,
nor biting my fingernails,
nor letting an email sit in my inbox for a week or two,
nor ditto, text messages,
nor pretending I don’t see someone that I know so I can avoid small talk,
nor paying $12 for a cocktail (and sometimes $14, and one time $20),
nor playing some stupid game on my phone when I should be considering the works of God’s hands or something,
nor losing my temper with an adorable three-year-old redhead who rips pages out of books like it’s her job,
nor bringing kind of a boring science experiment to said three-year-old’s preschool class for her to lead (because, for one thing, it’s
preschool so how complicated can it be, and for another, all the cool experiments were already taken),
nor being caught in the office in my pajamas by our office manager if I don’t wrap this up shortly,
nor going 28 words over the word-limit for this devotion (which I never do!),

…nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Prayer

God of Love, what else could I ask for?
