Big-Big!

God is not just big, but big-big! Big-big enough to not be swayed by privilege. Big-big enough to fairly treat parentless children. Big-big enough for all to have what they need.

Fire and Brimstone

I don’t know if God is still good. I suspect God’s righteousness is tarnished. But we’re called to keep searching for goodness—and for one another—through the fire and brimstone.

We’ve Come This Far

Take a moment today to give thanks for your heroes in faith. Take another moment to recall the twists and turns in your own journey, and how grace keeps pulling you forward.

The Story I Tell

When I tell a story of fear, I find plenty to be afraid of. When I focus on scarcity, there is not enough. But when I remember the story of love, I notice it’s unmistakably true.

Stop Scaring Bears

God’s 'peaceable kingdom' between humans and animals is not for our entertainment. These days, the peaceable kingdom often needs us to leave the animals alone to live in peace.

Silent God

'Silence is golden,' but following God isn’t about silencing. It’s about listening. It’s about considering Something More Important. It’s about honoring the roar of God’s voice.

It’s Not All Up to You

Sometimes our not doing allows something to be done for us and in us that is far more wonderful than we might accomplish on our own through our striving and worry.

Please Check Your Privilege, It’s Too Large to Carry On

As a white person, I carry privilege all the time.  Privilege of which I am not even aware. Privilege that just makes me want more privilege. It’s past time to check that baggage.

Free Range God

King David had misgivings about a “free-range God.” Quite often, so do we: preferring God to stay where we put Them as a mirror of our own values and biases.

Your Money or Your Love

“Good Jesus, money matters. We need it. But don’t let us damage relationships to get it. Don’t let our hearts fill with cash the space that is reserved for love.”
