Books of the Bible: Psalm

The ancient teachers tell us: heaven is both now and not yet. Something coming, something already here. Appreciation for today. Love that is big enough to hold eternity.

I feel the tiredness all in my body. Perhaps my body is calling me back to myself. To slow down and take notice. To breathe into those places that are painfully holding on to tension..

Although the psalmist assures us God will shoot an arrow at our enemies, I am grown up enough to forgive a childhood transgression. Until I realize that I have been unfriended.

Consider the possibility that the peace you're seeking may come as simply as stopping for a moment and deciding not to argue. May come as simply as listening to that still, speaking Voice.

Before God calls us out to minister to the world's needs, God first asks us to be honest about what we need. God knows, our souls can run dry.

Would it be the worst thing in the world to curl up in a blanket with a bowl of cereal and watch cartoons? This is the Lord's day. Enjoy it.

God fills our cups, not just until there is enough, but until they overflow with so much goodness that we can't help but share it.

God of majesty and might, bring order to chaos, understanding to confusion, and your sweet peace to every place of disruption.

If this is the last day before tomorrow, what else should I be doing but praising God?

Where is the gate of righteousness at our southern border? Who will offer God's protection? How far are the righteous willing to go to care for children? May God help us with answers.
