Litany of Abundance
Third Sunday of Easter
PAAM Sunday

Leader: O God, you who are the “ground of our being,” the source and sustainer of our lives, teach us to trust your promise:

People: “Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Leader: Stories told by old folks surfaced after World War II, of the many times people’s live were saved from starving while they were on the run to hide in the mountains: they found rice stored in abandoned houses.

People: Teach us to trust, “Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Leader: God supplies our food needs. God is rice.

People: Teach us to trust, “Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Leader: During years of economic hardship, noodle-eating people first learned to make noodles at home. Everyone had time to knead all day long, so plenty of homemade noodles for everyone!

People: Teach us to trust, “Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Leader: God supplies our food needs. God is noodles.

People: Teach us to trust, “Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Leader: The Pacific Islanders never run out of taro for they grow abundantly in fertile soil where volcanoes erupted in the past.

People: Teach us to trust, “Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Leader: God supplies our food needs. God is taro.

People: Teach us to trust, “Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Leader: O God, may we always be mindful of how your continued presence supplied abundant rice, noodles and taro in our years of want. Now in our current economic hardship, we ask you again to abide with us.

People: Teach us to trust, “Lo, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

All: God will provide. God is rice. God is noodles. God is taro.
