The theme for General Synod in Tampa last year was "Imagine What's Possible." The possibilities for service indeed seemed endless for those who participated! Among the projects from which to choose were: to collect and assemble Gift of the Heart hygiene kits that are distributed to disaster victims through Church World Service; donate blood at the convention center - especially since blood supplies are at their lowest in July; and to get involved in "Be the Match" by registering as a potential bone marrow donor. Youth participants at Synod were encouraged to sign up for a number of service projects such as working at the Tampa Bay Humane Society, Metropolitan Ministries Tampa, Feeding America Tampa Bay, and Trinity CafŽ of Tampa. Service projects in the host city are always a component of General Synod activities. Voting on resolutions and listening to keynote speakers is only part of a Synod delegate's responsibility; putting action to our words is another part.
