Joining four churches together is no easy task but United Church of Schellsburg UCC in Schellsburg, PA stands today to show that it is possible. More than 45 years ago, members of St. Matthew's Lutheran, St. John's Evangelical and Reformed, Schellsburg Presbyterian and Hull Memorial Methodist Society realized that in order to save their congregations the only option was to come together and form Schellsburg UCC. Their merger of four different denominations was a milestone for ecumenical relationships around the country. The new Schellsburg UCC became, and continues to be, stronger and with more members than it could have ever imagined 45 years ago.
