Psalm 145
Song of Solomon 4:1-8
1 Corinthians 1:3-17

The Amity Foundation – a partner of Global Ministries – has a Summer English Teaching program to help teachers in rural areas of China in speaking conversational English.  Last year, the Revs. Lura and Richard Cayton, Mr. Daniel Meyers, and Erik and Kim Free were in Ya'an, Sichuan, China for three weeks with this program.  The teachers developed creative ways for their student/teachers to speak English and, in the process, the teachers learned their own lessons about Chinese culture and custom.  The teachers used music, television and shopping as vehicles for their lessons and wound up learning what current music trends are in China, and how popular musical game shows are.  Daniel Meyers learned how to barter for better prices in the local marketplace. Meyers stated, “They are teaching me a great deal and I hope I am teaching them to have confidence and build their oral English as well.  In the end, I think we are both learning from each other.  My students have one teacher and I have dozens.  Even I can recognize that's a bargain I can't pass up!”
