Leaders share the ups and downs of discerning calling, and living out visions for service and justice.
Understanding, pursuing, and accepting calling are hard. Hearing stories from those who have journeyed inward to face questions, doubts, and fears - and to receive grace and insight - can help. Knowing how they were able to say "yes" and act to honor self, community, and world can support and encourage us.
Come hear four inspirational leaders share their joys and pains on the path of deeper calling and inspired action. Come hear what they did, what God did, what has happened, and what comes next. Learn how they are serving communities, empowering others, and seeking justice. And, come to nurture your calling to change the world.
March 19 Rev. Bill Haley, executive director of Coracle: Spiritual Formation for Kingdom Action
April 30 Rev. Adam Taylor, chair of the board of Sojourners and former Presidential Fellow
May 21 Rev. Rebecca Stelle, director of Becoming Church and founding director of Reunion: Dismantling Mass Incarceration through Relationship and Commitment
Moving from Discernment to Action: Each Wednesday following a speaker, join a group to discuss how what was shared may lead you to act. A light, home cooked supper with vegan options will be provided. Conversation will be facilitated by Bob Holum, former Executive Director of Lutheran Volunteer Corps, retired pastor at Luther Place Church, and aspiring swing dancer and mandolinist.
Dates: February 22, March 22, May 3, May 24
Location: 1011 S Street, NW, DC
