Our 8 month volunteer assignment at SilverLake comes to a close November 15 and we are especially grateful for this wonderful opportunity we've had to 'give back' and use our God-given skills to serve others. SilverLake has been a meaningful part of our lives and we cannot say enough good things about the quality of the current program being offered at SilverLake, your ConferenceCenter. Welike to describe our volunteer work as a "gift" to the agency. To create the 'present', it took 2 of us with 40 hours a week of donated time for 8 months (this is time that established staff didn't have available to get some projects started and completed). The gift ends up being: a new inventory database, improved alumni relations, a 'clean' alumni/ae and friend database for amilings and emails, an established annual alumni/ae appeal and expanded methods of communication. Now the existing SilverLake staff has the tools with which to do their work. It is never our intent to create positions to be hired when we leave but rather equip and set up the current staff with the data they need to be successful. We wish everyone involved with SilverLake all the very best. In Christian Service, Mary and Bill Ruth." Right now the Ruths are returning to their home in North Carolina for a few months and next year will make themselves available for an 8th volunteer assignment through the UCC Partners in Service Program.
