AmeriCorps Education Grant through UCC Volunteer Ministries

Participants in United Church of Christ Volunteer Ministries' programs may qualify for AmeriCorps Education grants (AEAP). UCC Volunteer Ministries is a sub-grantee of the Catholic Volunteer Network (CVN) for available slots in the education grant program of AmeriCorps. AEAP funding and slot allocation are re-determined each year by the Corporation for National and Community Services (CNCS) and then by the Catholic Volunteer Network.
In this 4-way partnership, participants enrolled in AEAP are simultaneously considered interns or volunteers in United Church of Christ programs and AmeriCorps members. Participants (AmeriCorps members) are involved in direct social service opportunties.
For purposes of the AmeriCorps Education Grant program, the UCC Volunteer Ministries Executive serves as AEAP Program Director. UCC partner service agencies serve also as the AmeriCorps service site for enrollees. The Catholic Volunteer network is a membership network of faith-based programs that serve people in low-income and high-poverty communities. AmeriCorps is a national service program that offers service opportunities to individuals aged 17 and older. It is often called the "domestic peace corp." The AmeriCorps program has several types of grants. UCC Volunteer Ministries participates in the education grant program (AEAP). |
