UCC Congregations in various areas of the United States host volunteers serving in local agencies involved in direct social service and justice advocacy ministries. Volunteers live in intentional community with reflection and faith conversations integral to teh experience. Part I Applications are due March 1, 2009. Part II and Reference Forms are due March 13, 2009.
Companion Communities, a young adult, ages 21 to 30, emphasis of the Partners in Serivce program. Placements begin each June or September. |

The philosophy undergirding Volunteer Ministries is that all God's people have been given gifts and that through our baptism we are called to offer these gifts in the service of others.

Hurricane Katrina Video - The Offices of National Disaster and Volunteer Ministies have worked very hard on the recovery and rebuilding emphasis in New Orleans and Biloxi. Groups are still needed and encouraged to help those who were devasted by the Hurricane of 2005.

With the Heart and Mind of a Servant - is a video that celebrates 50 years of volunteer service through the United Church of Christ. It highlights information that may interest anyone who is considering becoming a volunteer.

This brochure gives information about volunteering for Disaster Recovery positions in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina devasted the city. Volunteer openings include work groups for one week to repair and rebuild, individuals to serve as work site coordinators in 1-3 month placements and long term volunteers to serve in leadership positions through the "Partners in Service" Program - 6 to 12 month placements. The state of Florida also received much damage from Hurricane Katrina and volunteers are still being sought to help rebuild and repair housing that had been destroyed. The types of service needed are volunteer work groups and individuals for one week to repair and rebuild and long term volunteers to serve in leadership positions through the "Partners in Service" Program - 6-12 month placements.
