Disaster Recovery (Joplin)

Volunteer Position:  Construction Site Supervisor ~ Full-time volunteer facilitates the work of the short-term disaster recovery mission trip groups through service as on-site construction supervisor.

Period:  2-6 month placements

Volunteer Position #2:  Hospitality Coordinator ~ Full-time volunteer assists groups with housing needs and accessing building materials.

Volunteer Position #3:  Disaster Recovery Group Registrar "Virtual" volunteer.  Live at home.  Serve through electronic media.  Schedule and correspond with disaster recovery mission trip groups serving in Joplin, MO through UCC and Disciples of Christ partnership with local Long Term Recovery Committee.

Period:  12 months

 Every Child's Hope (St. Louis) 

Mission:  child-and family-service agency offering residential treatment for abused, abandoned, and neglected youth. Daycare center for preschool-aged children on campus.  (www.newbeginnings-ech.org)

Volunteer Position:  Pre-school teacher's assistant and grounds-keeping assistant

Period:  September - August

 National Farm Worker Ministry (Placement possible in Oregon, California, North Carolina or Florida; national office in St. Louis)

Mission:  interfaith organization whose purpose is to be present with and support farmworkers as they organize for justice, empowerment, and equality.

Volunteer Position:  Community organizer; volunteers educate consumers, coordinate boycotts, promote union label products, organize rallies and delegations, arrange visits to farmworker camps and homes, write letters and leaflet, march, and pray. Volunteers assist in the development of educational materials and worship resources, organize faith-based groups for farmworkers, assist with presentations to local congregations.  (www.nfwm.org)

Period:  3-12 months throughout the year
