The Disaster Event: Ten tornadoes moved through central Oklahoma between May 19th and June 2nd of 2013. The May 20th tornado that struck the heavily populated town of Moore was categorized as EF5. The tornado was 1.3 miles (2.1 km) wide at its peak. It stayed on the ground for 39 minutes over a 17-mile (27 km) path. Deaths resulted and property damage was wide-spread.
Project/Focus: Long-Term Diaster recovery from Oklahoma Tornadoes of May-June 2013. Projects include home rebuilding.

Time: Long Term recovery work begins in March 2014. Arrive Sunday afternoon and depart Saturday morning. Work Monday - Friday.

Accommodations: Housing provided in local United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) congregations for groups under 15. UCC Registrar will make arrangements for your group upon receiving your on-line registration. Bathrooms, showers and access to kitchen facilities and utensils are available.
Cost: $100.00 per person per week to offset costs related to organizing and housing groups. Costs for building materials and tools and construction supervision provided through case management system of local long-term recovery committee.
