Disaster Recovery Volunteers
Compassion in Action
Your service will not only assist in the physical acts of helping people rebuild their homes, but is an act of presence that indicates the commitment to walk beside people as they seek to rebuild their lives. Together, we can be the body of Christ in the world.

Flooding in Georgia September/October 2009
"Thank you for your willingness to serve with disaster recovery in Georgia. Currently, local residents are beginning to clean up and organize for recovery. Local volunteers may call 678 533-1443 to get connected with clean-up projects. No housing for volunteer groups is currently available.
The wider United Church of Christ participates in Long-Term disaster recovery efforts. As the local community organizes itself for recovery and systems are in place to facilitate your mission trip, we will post opportunities for service here.
Thank you for your willingness to accompany people as they rebuild their homes and lives after this disaster. |
Disaster recovery work groups may be quite different from other kinds of mission trips. Work projects for any particular week may not be known ahead of time. Flexibility and patience are key for the success of your experience. Materials for orientation, debriefing and on-site reflection are available from each site upon registration.
