Severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes battered Holton, IN and surrounding areas between February 29 through March 3, 2012.  The area received a major disaster declaration.

Work Needed:  Long-Term Disaster recovery from March 2012 storms and tornadoes.  Home rebuilding.  Interior work during the winter.

Time:  Arrive Sunday afternoon and depart Saturday morning.  Work Monday - Friday.  Rebuilding began October 15, 2012. Work is expected to continue through the end of July 2013.

Accommodations:  Housing provided at local churches.  Group brings own bedding and food.  Bathrooms, showers, and access to laundry and kitchen facilities are available.

Travel:  During work days, park at Holton Christian Church, 6857 W. Versailles Street, Ho0lton, IN 47023.  For long distance travel, nearest airports are Indianapolis, Louisville or Cincinnati.

Cost:  $50 per person per week to the host church providing accommodations to help offset costs of utilities and maintenance.  Costs for building materials and tools, and construction supervision provided through local partners.  Your donations to One Great Hour of Sharing® help make possible the local work of the Long-Term Recovery Committee.

Minimum Age:  15 years.   Younger volunteers may be approved for service if there are "extenuating circumstances."  Volunteers under age 18 have specific waiver forms requiring parent/guardian signature.

Group Size:  Organization can provide work and housing for a total of 3 groups of 25 each.

Adult to Youth Ratio:  1:5
